Another Victory for the Belgrade Vis Moot Team
Upon securing a victory at the Milan Pre-Moot, and finishing fourth at the Munich Pre-Moot, our students have returned from the Moscow Pre-Moot, a pre-moot hosted by the Lomonosov University (MSU), with another victory in their pocket. Namely, among 13 teams from 7 countries our team finished first on the basis of their performances in the eight rounds of hearings, while two of our students also received individual awards for best oralists: Ms. Katarina Tomić won the first award, whereas Ms. Tatjana Radivojević was the third best speaker of the Pre-Moot.
During the two days of competition in Moscow, on 19th and 21th of March 2017, in the course of their preparations for the participation at this years’ XXIV Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, our students pleaded against the teams from colleagues from Kutafin Moscow State Law University, High School of Economics, MGIMO University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, American University of Central Asia, State University of Moldova and University of Lucerne and were praised for their performances by eight different panels of arbitrators.
During their stay in Moscow, besides taking part at the pre-moot, our students attended a workshop and conference on Commencement of Arbitration and Security for Costs organized by Lomonosov Moscow State University, which dealt with some of the disputed legal issues covered by this year’s Moot problem.
This years’ team of the University of Belgrade is comprised of the fourth-year students and the master students: Ana Radojević, Katarina Tomić, Milica Volarev, Tatjana Radivojević, Tanja Milojević, Jovan Mićović, Stefan Savić and Nevena Stojković. Like in the previous fourteen years, the team is coached by Professor Dr. Vladimir Pavić and Assistant Professor Dr. Milena Đorđević. The coaches of the team are assisted by Assistant Professor Dr. Marko Jovanović and Assistant Uroš Živković, as well as by the former Moot participants.
The next stage of preparations of our students shall take place in Belgrade, at the world’s largest pre-moot tournament – the Belgrade Open Pre-Moot, that will gather 79 teams from 39 countries on 1st and 2nd of April 2017.
The participation of our students at the XXIV Vis moot in Vienna and the preceding pre-moots would not have been possible without the generous support of our team’s donors.
