Another Success of Our Students At International Moot Tournaments

In preparation for this year’s 58th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the team of students from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law won the fifth place in the final team rankings at European Friendly Jessup Competition organized by Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and International Law Students Organization (ILSA) which took place in Budapest. In addition, the team’s success was coupled with the individual success of one of the team members as Mr. Balša Stevanović won the fifth place for the best oralist out of 30 best ranked students.
jessup-img_8074During the three days of the event, from 9th to 11th March 2017, our students have competed against students from universities from Albania (Hena e Plote Beder),  Portugal (University of Lisbon), Luxembourg (University of Luxembourg) and  Jordan (University of Jordan). By winning all of their rounds of arguments, Belgrade team completed the tournament in the top 5 ranked teams out of 14 universities from 14 countries and therefore positioned the University of Belgrade among the best European and world universities who cherish a long tradition of achieving outstanding results at Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition (University of Vienna, Auckland University, ELTE and University of Helsinki).
Belgrade Jessup Team is composed out of four student of the final year of the undergraduate studies of Law: Mr. Balša Stevanović, Ms. Milica Škaro, Ms. Aleksandra Anđelković and Mr. Luka Aleksić, who all have vast prior experience and success at similar student competitions. In April 2017, they will participate in international rounds of this oldest, most prestigious and most famous competition in the field of International Public Law that will be held in Washington, D.C.
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Law would like to, once again, thank the organizers of the European Friendly Jessup Competition for providing the accommodation to our students during their stay in Budapest, as well as to all individuals, companies and organizations who provided the generous funding for our team’s travel and accommodation in Washington, D.C.
