The University of Belgrade has a very long tradition in academic and cultural exchange, as well as inter-university and international cooperation with universities within the country and abroad. The University of Belgrade has also a great experience in cooperation with international organizations focusing on higher education. This is clearly shown by the bilateral agreements of cooperation concluded with more than 180 universities on every continent, membership in the European University Association (EUA), the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN), the Danube Rectors’ Conference (DRC), the Balkan University Network, the University Network of the Adriatic and Ionian Basin (UNIADRION), Association des Universites Francophones (AUF) and others.
The University of Belgrade takes active part in European programs as a grant holder and partner in many projects (TEMPUS, FP7, CIP, Erasmus, Erasmus Mundus, EUREKA, COST, IPA etc.). Having signed the Bologna Declaration, the University of Belgrade with the aim of joining European Higher Education Area. It has adopted in 2014 the Strategy for the Internationalization and in 2015 an Action plan for the Internationalization. The Faculty of Law, as part of the University of Belgrade, has aimed at establishing, nurturing and developing cooperation with other faculties, both in the country and abroad, as well as other international organizations that are engaged in the higher education field. What so clearly supports this aim are the signed bilateral agreements of cooperation with a number of foreign faculties.
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Law has established worldwide academic and professional relations and cooperation with numerous law schools in Europe, USA and Asia. In cooperation with the European University Center of the University of Nancy 2 (France), it has been organizing for several years a postgraduate specialist course in European Union Law – the High European Studies. Over the past few years it has developed prolific relations with various international centers, foundations and organizations that promote the improvement of legal studies, such as the German Organization for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the German Foundation for the International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), the National Center for State Courts, whose project The Rule of Law in Serbia is financed by the USAID, as well as with the Europa-Institut of Saarland University, Saarbrücken (Germany), with whom the Faculty takes part at the The Network of the SEE | EU Cluster of Excellence in European and International Law. In addition, the Faculty actively participates in the Rotterdam Law Network, and is a member of the European Law Institute.
As of March 2011, the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law is a member of The South East European Law School Network (SEELS) and actively takes part in its activities. The South East European Law School Network (SEELS) is the first academic network of its kind that brings together 13 distinct Law Schools from the region. SEELS creates synergies and aims to foster excellence in science and education through regional collaboration and European integration. SEELS is established with the aim of improving cooperation between the Law Faculties in the region and thus improving their scientific, teaching and administrative capacities. It is dedicated to increase international competitiveness and high level of performance in the field of legal education, research and publishing particularly with regard to curricula development, inter-institutional cooperation and integrated study programmes at a regional level, through a planned three-pillar-approach (education, research and publishing). In that sense, SEELS supports the strategic development of the Law Faculties and addresses the three identified target groups (student, academic staff and legal professions).
