Opening Ceremony of the LAWGID Master Programme
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Law will host the Opening Ceremony of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Study Programme Law and Gender, Intersectionality and Diversity – LAWGID on Monday, 21 September 2026.
LAWGID is a two-year international joint master’s programme established by three partner universities: the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Law, as the coordinating institution, LUMSA University – Department of Law, Economics and Communication in Palermo, Italy, and Örebro University – Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Sweden. The programme is implemented as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master, supported by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency of the European Union.
The programme brings together the expertise of the three partner universities and offers an interdisciplinary and international approach to the study of law, gender equality, intersectionality and diversity. Over the course of two years, students will study at all three partner universities and, upon successful completion of the programme, receive degrees from all three institutions.
The Opening Ceremony will take place in the Conference Hall of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, starting at 12:00.
The event will open with welcome addresses by representatives of the University of Belgrade, the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, and the coordinators of the LAWGID Master Programme from the partner institutions. The keynote lecture, entitled “Intersectional Feminist Approach as the Starting Point for LAWGID”, will be delivered by Professor Dragica Vujadinović.
On this occasion, the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law will welcome the first generation of LAWGID students. The first cohort consists of 21 students from Afghanistan, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, Sweden, Uganda, the United States of America and Uzbekistan, 13 of whom have been awarded Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
Following the formal part of the programme, the first generation of LAWGID students will be introduced to the first-semester courses, course instructors and fellow students. The programme will also include a presentation and discussion of technical, organizational and administrative aspects of studying within the LAWGID Master Programme, a guided tour of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, and a meeting with representatives of the European Law Students’ Association – ELSA.
