Conference: Election of Judges in the Republic of Serbia and the Countries of the Region – Norm, Practice, Proposals for Change
On Friday, 29 November 2013, conference “Election of judges in the Republic of Serbia and the countries of the region – the norm, practice, proposals for change” was organized by the Centre for Public Law and University of Belgrade Faculty of Law. Participants were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Vladan Petrov, vice-dean of the faculty and Associate in CJP, Prof. Dr. Sima Avramović, dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr. Edin Sarčević, president of CJP and Ljiljana Blagojević, Assistant of Minister of Justice and Public Administration. Following professors presented theirs papers on the subject: prof. Dr Irena Pejić, Ljiljana Blagojević, prof. Dr. Vladan Petrov, prof. Dr. Boris Ljubanović, prof. Dr. Darko Simović and Assistant Professor Dr. Marko Stanković. In a lively discussion, among others, there were Prof. Dr. Momir Milojević, Dragan Boljević, president of the Association of Judges of Serbia, Aleksandra Martinović, Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Bosna & Hercegovina and others. Many issues of high importance for the realization of the principle of independence and the principle of accountability of the judiciary in Serbia and the region were discussed.
