
Prof. Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović elected to the Executive Board of the European Association of Climate Law (EACL)
Berlin, 23 September 2025 – Prof. Dr. Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović, Jean Monnet Chair in European Environmental and Climate Change Law at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, has been elected to the Executive Board of the newly established European Association of Climate Law (EACL). EACL brings together legal experts, scholars, and researchers to advance the study and practice of climate law in Europe and beyond. The Association provides a platform for discussion, fosters collaboration across the legal community, and supports the engagement of young scholars with the aim of strengthening legal responses to climate change at all levels.
The announcement of the Executive Board coincided with EACL’s Founding Conference, “Climate Law in Europe: Taking Stock – Looking Forward,” held in Berlin on 22–23 September 2025. The first day featured an Early Career Researcher Workshop on Climate Law and Intergenerational Justice, followed by a keynote address, while the second day included panel discussions on European Climate Law in an Evolving World, Litigation and Legislation as Drivers of European Climate Law, the Role of Law in Promoting Corporate Climate Action, and Climate Law as a Cross-Cutting Area of Law.
At the Founding Conference, the following members were elected to the Executive Board of EACL:

As a member of the Executive Board, Prof. Drenovak-Ivanović will contribute her expertise in EU environmental and climate change law, climate change litigation and human rights, access to environmental and climate justice, business and human rights, comparative climate governance, and related fields. By providing a platform for in-depth discussions, fostering collaboration among legal experts, and supporting the participation of young scholars, EACL seeks to strengthen legal responses to climate change from global to local levels and to support the next generation of climate law scholars.
