Forvm Romanvm: Prof. Emeritus Sima Avramović Gave a Lecture „The View of Rome From the Janiculum”
On Friday, the 18th of March, 2022, Prof. Emeritus Sima Avramović, our Forvm’s Ceasar, gave a lecture titled „The View of Rome From the Janiculum”, dedicating it to Prof. Emerita Miroslava Mirković, an old friend of the Forvm who, sadly, passed away two years ago. During the lecture, Prof. Avramović spoke of the topography of the ancient and modern Rome, of the research done by Prof. Mirković and the legend of Romulus and Remus in the context of kinship in Ancient Rome (and Ancient Greece!), of the god Janus that the hill of Janiculum was named after, of the daily cannon fire under the Monument to Garibaldi… The lecture was followed by a large audience, from the eldest generations of Forvm members to those who are studying with us now; in the forthcoming, friendly discussion that ensued, a number of subjects were touched upon, from the finer details of the Romulus and Remus legend, to the first excursion of the Forvm to Rome that took place in 1971.
