Forvm Romanvm: Prof. Dr Marko Đurđević speaks of the changes and amendments to the Serbian Civil Code in the first 20 years since its adoption
On the 29th of November 2019, the cycle dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Serbian Civil Code continued at the Forvm Romanvm with a lecture by Prof. Dr Marko Đurđević, entitled „The Changes and Amendments to the Serbian Civil Code in the First 20 Years since its Adoption“. We heard how the changes, amendments and authentic interpretations of this Code were implemented in this period via short bills published in the Official Bulletin of the Principality of Serbia; it wasn’t until later on that they were systematically ordered and integrated into the Code itself. These initial interventions were not concerned, as one might think, with those areas which provoked a negative reaction from the first critics of the Code (Šeroglić and Matić); instead, they stemmed from the difficulties that arose in its application in court. According to Prof. Đurđević, the Code did not essentially evolve through these changes. An interesting discussion followed the lecture, concerning both the 1844 Code, and its potential successor.
