Lecture on the Marriage of King Aleksandar Karađorđević held at the Club “Forvm Romanvm”
The first lecture at the club Forvm Romanvm in the academic year 2019-20 was given by Prof. Dr Momčilo Pavlović, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Contemporary History. The subject of the lecture was “The Marriage of King Aleksandar Karađorđević”, and the audience at the Forvm had the opportunity to become acquainted with the entire event, starting with the first attempts to arrange the marriage between the Yugoslavian heir to the throne and the Romanian princess, through an interesting programme which accompanied the wedding celebrations in Belgrade (one of the organisers of this event was the renowned author Branislav Nušić, contributing several original ideas), and up to the valuable and often original presents that the bride and groom received. At the end, we were privy to an exclusive premiere of a film which depicts the arrival of the future Queen Marija in Belgrade, along with the wedding celebrations, brought by Prof. Pavlović from the National Archive in Romania.
