THE VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF JUDGES OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
The delegation of judges of the People’s Republic of China, led by His Excellency the Chief Justice of the People’s Republic of China and the President of the Supreme People’s Court Mr Zhou Giang (周 强), as well as Her Excellency the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Serbia, Mrs Chen Bo (陈 波), visited the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law on Friday, September 20, 2019. The visit to the Faculty of Law was organized during a three-day stay in Serbia by a delegation of judges of the People’s Republic of China, who met with representatives of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Court of Cassation, the Constitutional Court, the Court of Appeal in Novi Sad, the High Court in Belgrade and the Judicial Academy.
In addition to the President of the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Qiang, the Chinese delegation also included: the judge and the Member of the Supreme People’s Court Judgment Committee Mr Liu Guixiang (刘贵祥), the President of the High People’s Court of Fujian Province Mr Wu Xielin (吴 偕 林), the President of the High People’s Court of Yunnan Province Mr Hou Jianjun (侯建军), the Director General of the General Office of the Supreme People’s Court and the Senior Judge Mr Yu Housen (于 厚 森), the Deputy Director General of the General Office of the Supreme People’s Court Mr Sun Xiaoyong (孙晓勇), the President of the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court of Guangdong Province Mr Wan Guoying (万 国营), the President of the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court of Jiangsu Province Mr Xu Qingyu (徐清宇), the Director of the Inspection Division of General Office of the Supreme People’s Court Mr Ning Jie (宁 杰), the Deputy Division Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Supreme People’s Court Ms Liu Wenwen (刘文雯), the Security Officer of the President of the Supreme People’s Court Mr Zhang Yanbing (张艳兵) and the Deputy Director of the Political Sector of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Serbia Ms Qian Xiangyun (钱 湘云).
The Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade welcomed the guests and pointed out that in the long tradition of the Faculty, several doctors of law from China obtained their diploma at the Belgrade Law School. Recalling that the Shanghai Education Fair was held in 2017 at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, the Dean Prof. Dr Zoran Mirković expressed his eagerness to deepen the successful cooperation with higher education institutions from China, as well as to intensify the exchange of students and academic staff.
The delegation from China was received by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr Zoran Mirković, the President of the Faculty Council Prof. Dr Goran Ilić, the Vice-Dean for academic affairs Prof. Dr Bojan Milisavljević, the Secretary Dragan Pavić, MSc, and Dr. Ivana Rodić, who is in charge of international cooperation.
The President of the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China Mr Zhou Giang stressed that after the visit of Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping to Serbia, the relationship between the two countries has been significantly improved, especially in the field of economic cooperation, as well as through the Belt and Road Initiative. He expressed his hope that after the visit of the Chinese delegation, the exchange of experiences and good practices in the field of law would be intensified. Prof. Dr Goran Ilić referred to the organization and functioning of the judicial system of Serbia and pointed out the importance of cooperation between judicial institutions of the two countries. Prof. Dr Bojan Milisavljević pointed out the importance of the principled position of China in preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as the exceptional contribution of China to the economy of our country. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged opinions on the course of Serbia’s accession to the European Union, as well as on the forms of future cooperation of higher education institutions in the field of law. During the visit, the delegation of judges of the People’s Republic of China visited the Amphitheater “Radomir Lukic“and the Museum of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law.
