International Summer Seminar on Ancient Legal History
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Law hosted the International Summer Seminar on Ancient Legal History (Internationales Sommerseminar zur Antiken Rechtsgeschichte) from April 28th to May 1st this year. This prestigious conference has been gathering scholars of all generations interested in research of legal systems and institutes of antiquity for 22 years. The subject of this year’s seminar was „Law and magic“ (Recht und Magie). Professors, researchers and students from Austria, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus and Serbia participated in the conference. The seminar was organized by Prof. Dr Sima Avramović and Ass. Prof. Dr Andreja Katančević, with significant assistance from teaching associate Una Divac and students Veljko Milošević, Đorđe Stepić and Sava Vojnović. A significant role in the organization and performance of the seminar, as always, was undertaken by the ‘founding father’ and spiritus movens of the Summer Seminar, Prof. Emeritus Gerhard Thür, correspondent member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and one of the most prominent European experts on ancient legal history.
